Category 2 OTC medicines

TYLENOL A
タイレノールA

CHARACTERISTICS

  • TYLENOL A acts mainly on the brain (central nervous system), and suppresses pain and fever.
  • The stomach has a substance called prostaglandin (PG) that protects the stomach walls from gastric acid.
  • TYLENOL A has little effect on PG. So, it is mild enough to be taken on an empty stomach, and is effective. When you have chills and fever due to a cold, however, avoid taking the medicine on an empty stomach.

Medicine taken on an empty stomach

  • Most medicines are mainly absorbed in the small intestine rather than in the stomach.
  • Medicine taken after a meal is affected by the digestion process and stays in the stomach longer, and it takes more time than medicine taken on an empty stomach to reach the small intestine where the medicine is absorbed.
  • Medicine taken on an empty stomach, on the other hand, reaches the small intestine sooner.
